Washington State Bans Nearly All Non-Compete Agreements

Washington Governor Bob Ferguson signed SHB 1155 on March 23, 2026, voiding and banning nearly all noncompete agreements for employees and independent contractors, effective June 30, 2027. Washington becomes one of the most restrictive states for non-competes, joining California, North Dakota, and Minnesota.
